Tour Overview

The SaharaVia Local Specialty

Most travelers spend 18 hours in a car just to reach the desert. By starting your tour in Errachidia (home to Moulay Ali Cherif Airport), you bypass the long initial drive. This allows you to immediately immerse yourself in the Sahara on day one, before taking the scenic route across southern Morocco to reach Marrakech.

Why this tour is unique

Because our team is based right here in Errachidia, we have crafted an itinerary that starts in our own backyard. With only a two-hour drive to the dunes on the first day, you arrive fresh and ready to ride camels into the sunset. The following days are perfectly paced, allowing you to walk through towering canyons and explore ancient clay fortresses before descending into the Red City of Marrakech.

FAQ

Common questions

What time should my flight arrive in Errachidia?

For Day 1, we recommend arriving on a morning or early afternoon flight so we have plenty of time to drive through the Ziz Valley and arrive in Merzouga before the sunset camel trek.

Is the drive on Day 3 difficult?

Day 3 involves crossing the High Atlas Mountains. The roads are winding, but your local driver is highly experienced. We make several stops for panoramic photos, coffee, and a leisurely visit to Ait Benhaddou to break up the journey.

Are there toilets and showers in the desert camp?

If you book the Superior or Luxury packages, your private tent will have a fully functioning western toilet and hot shower inside. Comfort packages utilize clean, shared facilities.
